Chapter 1: Prologue

The Great Love War

That was the name of an otome game that took the world by storm. It is a classic reverse harem game where four princes compete for the love of a single heroine, the Imperial Princess.

At first glance, it seemed like a simple otome game to conquer. But in truth, if you weren’t careful, you’d end up with the so-called Normal Ending, which was really just a glorified Bad Ending. A tale where the love is fake, driven solely by ambition to form a relationship with the princess, and the story would end right there. Actually, that was only half of the whole narrative. Once you unlocked other routes, the true essence of the game would finally reveal itself. That little twist was what made it gain traction and buzz.

I was one of the people who played it after a friend recommended it to me. But, well… how should I put it? I just couldn't stomach the way the guys behaved. They whispered empty promises and professed hollow love, all just to marry the Imperial Princess and gain power.

I mean, yeah, I get it. But still, why the hell did I have to clean up their emotional baggage just to make them fall for me for real? The more I played, the more pissed off I got. Then, I read the novel adaptation. It was even worse. It had the audacity to end with a Polygamous Harem Ending — one princess with multiple husbands.

That was the final straw. And yet despite all that, weak as I am for handsome men, I ended up finishing both the novel and the game.

And now... in the present day.

  My name is Tachibana Asuka.
I went to sleep… and woke up in a house I’d never seen before. Some sweet-looking old lady started teaching me magic out of nowhere, walked me through the admission process, and before I knew it, I was enrolled in a magic academy.

Is this a dream? Yeah, it has to be a dream. I mean, there’s no way this is real...
Sure, everything feels a bit too vivid, but it has to be just a dream.

The school’s name? The Holy Magic Academy in metropolitan — exactly the same as the one in that game. And if that game’s heroine is here... If the Saintess is here...

  Suddenly, I had a thought:
"Wouldn’t I be able to make the Imperial Princess happier than any of those so-called love interests (aka those ikemen)?"

It would be a long, long time before I realized how big of a mistake that thought really was. And just like that, my story began.
